Why Energy Meter Testing Is Required?

The energy meter is the heart of the power supply network. If the energy meter is correct the consumption is recorded and the billing is correct. If the energy meter is not correct we lose on all fronts. 

Now in the market, the energy meters are available with indicating with all parameters, also we can connect sizable meter in PC so we can take the data on PC of all factory.

Meter is installed for feeder consumption to record KWh units but now due to all parameters we can record all parameters of the meter due to this we can find out what are the erratic parameter on feeder and we can rectify those parameters by modification.

Electric consumption depends upon your healthy network system if your system is not healthy you can suffer extra electric consumption which are increase KWH

  How to keep Healthy Network System

  1. For electronic meter balance load is required for R.Y.B. if it is not your neutral current can rise and your meter can + / - erratic.
  2. Due to the parameter you can find out the current, voltage, KW & P.F. of each phase if it is not correct your meter can be + / - erratic.
  3. If we correct the erratic position of the feeder we can avoid further losses that will be cable not heated, reactive current will not pass, and voltage fluctuation will stop.
  4. Due to this we can avoid KWH.
  5. We have to measure all equipment which has inductive load mainly motors. So we can find the efficiency of the equipment. For Ex. If the motor has taken 130 A current it takes 160 A current due to overloaded motor or if motor winding repair.
  6. In industries the cable system is very old and it is overloaded due to this loss of cable can go up to 10 to 15% so we have to measure every year to avoid the losses or replace by new.
  7. In every year all main switch contact breaker contact is to be served also to take care of loose contact. so we can avoid sparking or tripping problems.
